5-AXIS PROGRAMMING
When simultaneous machining is needed
Five axes do not automatically mean simultaneous machining. The choice depends on access, geometry, finishing and process risk.
Relevant situations
- surfaces requiring continuous tool orientation;
- areas that cannot be reached by simple repositioning;
- continuity and surface finish requirements;
- reducing the number of setups;
- collision control in confined geometries.
The strategy must be checked against the machine kinematics and postprocessor.
